Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue and Structural Integrity
Xi’an, China, 31 May - 04 June 2021
The International Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue and Structural Integrity (ICAF) was formed in 1951 in response to the growing concerns regarding fatigue problem in aircraft structures. The scope of ICAF interests has expanded over the years to include most aspects of aircraft structural integrity. The stated aims of ICAF are to encourage contacts between people actively engaged in aircraft structural integrity problems and exchange information.
To this end, a conference and symposium are organized every two years for representatives of industry, universities and institutes, regulatory agencies and operators throughout the world.
The two-day conference consists of reviews of aeronautical fatigue activities presented by the national delegates of the 17 member nations of ICAF. It is followed by the three-day symposium that involves specialist papers presented by authors with design, manufacturing, airworthiness regulations, operations and research backgrounds.
It is a great honor for us to organize and host ICAF 2021 in Xi'an, China. So, on behalf of Marcel Bos - the ICAF General Secretary, all the ICAF National Delegates, and ourselves, we invite you to the 37th Conference and 31st Symposium of the International Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue and Structural Integrity.
We welcome participants from all over the world, including those from non-member countries. We are looking forward to seeing you all in Xi'an, China.

ICAF 2021 in Xi’an, China, is deferred until 2023
We have decided to defer the 37th Conference and 31st Symposium of ICAF, the International Committee on Aeronautical Fatigue and Structural Integrity, to 2023. We have a strong preference for an in-person event and we do not believe that we will be able to organize this in a responsible and safe way in May 2021 without sacrificing the essence of ICAF, viz. personal interaction without any limitations and obstacles. We are very sorry that we will not have the opportunity to meet and greet you personally in 2021. However, given the current situation with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic we believe that this is the best way forward.
We will still publish our national reviews of aeronautical fatigue and structural integrity investigations during the period April 2019 - April 2021. They will be posted on our permanent website that is currently being constructed. We will do this in the first week of June 2021. More information will be provided shortly.
ICAF 2023 will be hosted in Xi’an, China. The exact date is still to be set, but will be in the late May/early June time frame.
May you and yours stay safe and healthy,
ICAF General Secretary
